SERIOUS WINE LOVERS TOUR for wine lovers looking to buy some of the Hunter Valley's finest wines.

Hunter Tours are constantly being asked for a tour that just focus's on wine, so each month we will be focusing on 4 very different Hunter Valley vineyards. This is a speciality tour for people who really love their wines and want to add to their collections.

We won't confuse your palate with cheese or chocolates, just GREAT Hunter Valley Wines and an exquisite gourmet lunch.

Your hunter Valley Wine tour will include tastings at 4 vineyards, plus a two course lunch, main and dessert, plus a glass of Wandin Valley Wine at Belposto Restaurant.

Gartelmann Wines - MUST TRY WINES

• 2008 Jessica Verdelho - A vibrant example of Verdelho, showing zippy passionfruit and tropical fruit notes, with a hint of lime zest. A mouth-filling wine with great texture and a long crisp acid finish. Great lunchtime wine - perfect with barbecued chicken, fish and chips, and spicy dishes.

• 2005 Merlot - A wine of flavour, finesse and balance, showing seductive dark plum aromas married with savoury tomato leaf elements and hints of damp earth and black truffle.  Medium bodied with an elegant palate framed by cedary fine grained tannin on a long and persistent finish.

• 2005 Wilhelm Shiraz - A wine of flavour, finesse and balance, showing ripe berry fruit with a dusting of spice and savoury oak elements. Medium to full bodied, with a supple flowing palate framed by silky fine-grained tannin on a long and persistent finish.

Wandin Valley Estate - MUST TRY WINES

• 2008 Single Vineyard Semillon - Gold medal at Australian Small Winemakers Show QLD
• 2007 Reserve Chardonnay - (previous Vintage received 92 Point – James Halliday 2009 Wine Companion - 2007 yet to be rated
• 2006 Bridies Reserve Shiraz - (previous Vintage received 94 point - James Halliday 2009 Wine Companion - 2006 yet to be rated)

• SPECIALS - Fatso's Revenge.- 2007 Sem Sauv Blanc & 2006 Cab, Shiraz, merlot - $120 per case. Previously sold singularly for $17 per bottle. Cases can be mixed.

Briar Ridge - MUST TRY WINES

• 2008 Carl Stockhausen Semillion - The palate displays an elegant mineral line with refreshing lemonade and lemon sherbet flavours present. The acid structure is delicate and tight as a young wine, which will soften with age. The finish is persistent with lingering lime zest characters adding great length to the wine. This wine will drink well with fresh or cooked seafood.

• 2005 Vigneron's Signature Cabernet Sauvignon - A combination of blackberry and plum fruit flavours along with a touch of mint. The tannins are firm but ripe leading to a persistent finish. Drinking excellent now or cellar medium term to enhance the wines appeal (3 - 5 years).

• 2008 White Trio - Refreshing citrus and tropical fruit flavours with zesty acidity and a pleasant persistent finish. Drinking well now. Or try their 2007 Red Trio - Created in a style to suit any occasion, the Briar Ridge Red Trio is a classic red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. This wine is suited to many dishes such as pastas, pizzas and BBQ foods.

Poolesrock Wines - MUST TRY WINES

• 2005 Pooles Rock Shiraz is “Pauls Pick” this month, an exceptional example of what a premium Hunter shiraz is, enjoy now or cellar for your enjoyment,(6-8years). On sale this month only! Down from $504 to $399

• 2008 Premium Chardonnay has just been released. Usher is very excited about this wine, it’s a baby in the bottle and already showing signs of an award winning wine in the making, 9 months French oak, one for the serious chardonnay lovers.

• Plus they have their $99 specials on some of the Firestick Wines.

• This tour may be altered for your convenience and Vineyard/winery availability. Also may be altered when catering for lunch stop.

• Costs may vary depending on pick-up.

$70 per person - half day no lunch

Free pickup from your home or accommodation in East Maitland, Maitland, Thornton, Lovedale, Pokolbin, Cessnock, Morpeth, Rutherford, Branxton, Aberglasslyn and most local Hunter Valley Accommodation.
